Looking for a quick snack you can whip up at home? Want some delicious after-meal dessert without feeling guilty? If you (1) like eating ice cream (2) are lazy to make it and (3) are calorie conscious, I have the perfect solution for you. Being a calorie conscious individual, I’m particular about eating high calorie foods. Imagine my exhilaration when I found this simple kitchen hack that not only lets me prepare ice cream with absolute ease, but allows me to eat without worrying about calories. Each serving is only 100 calories. Get ready to enter ice cream haven :D.
What You Need
Just 3 things: (1) Yogurt (2) Freezer (3) Spoon (for eating later). It can’t get any easier.
Step 1: Pick your yogurt
Do you like your ice cream plain? Or do you like fruits in it? Nowadays yogurt comes with fruit variants such as blueberry, apple, peach and strawberry. I always pick the fruit variants because it gives added crunch and flavor to the ice cream. My favorites are mango and peach, strawberries and mixed berries flavor. Brands like Yoplait, Danone and Marigold will have more than enough options for you to choose from. They are about 100 calories per cup, which makes for a delicious low calorie ice cream :) You can even have 2 if you want, though I find 1 is sufficient whether as a appetite filler or after-meal snack.
Step 2: Put it in the freezer for 2 hours
Typically yogurt is placed in the refrigerator to keep it chilled. Since we are making yogurt ice cream, we’re putting this in the freezer. Depending on the size of your container and type of yogurt, this’ll take at least 2 hours. In the meantime, go surf around lifehack.org and check out the past articles.
Step 3: Get your delicious ice cream
Check if the yogurt has hardened into ice cream by squeezing the container. If it can be squeezed, put it back in the freezer for a while longer. If it can’t, that means it has hardened into ice cream. If so, remove the seal. Use a spoon to poke into the ice cream. If it’s too hard, leave the yogurt at room temperature for about 15 minutes for it to soften first. Enjoy your delicious yogurt ice cream :D. Go ahead and have one snack every day of a different flavor. Since it’s a healthy food and only 100 calorie per serving, there’s no reason to limit it in your diet. This is a kitchen hack I use almost every day and I love it. Image # 1, Image # 2,
